Pop diva Madonna praised US President-elect Barack Obama during a performance at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles as part of her ongoing ‘Sticky and Sweet’ tour.

She also expressed her disappointment that Californians had voted to veto the state’s recent approval of gay marriage, reports dailymail.co.uk.

Lindsay Lohan out of World Music Awards

London, Nov 3 (IANS) Hollywood singer-actress Lindsay Lohan has been axed as host of the World Music Awards in Monaco next weekend.

She has now been replaced at the 11th hour by Denise Richards as the show bosses panicked over whether Lohan was actually up to the job, reports mirror.co.uk.

“We were surprised she was ever asked. When the 22-year-old actress presented the 2006 awards at Earls Court we were cringing in the crowd as she botched up all her lines and called Beyonce to the stage while she was still getting her hair done,” said a source.

The organisers had drafted in Jesse Metcalfe to give Lohan some back up for the all-star show.

The source added: “Lindsay was furious that she wasn’t the star. The organisers had gone through a list of who was hot at the moment and returned to Lindsay again.

“But the feedback they got was really negative. They got worried and decided to change it. In the end it was decided by both parties it was better if she pulled out.”

London, Nov 2 (IANS) Peaches, daughter of rocker-turned-humanitarian Bob Geldof, who was involved in an apparent shoplifting incident when she left a hip boutique without paying for the clothes, says it was all a mistake.

Mirror.co.uk reports that the 19-year-old Peaches was “behaving atrociously” before she walked out of the shop with an item over her arm, said a staff.

When the staff member at the Luna & Curious noticed something missing, she ran over to question Peaches and she agreed to pay for the item clarifying that it was all a mistake.

“My colleague was shocked. Her (Peaches) behaviour was absolutely unbelievable in the shop before the incident happened. She was acting very bizarrely. The matter is closed as far as the shop is concerned now, but an apology would have been nice,” said another staff from the shop.

Riya Sen Raima Sen in Nauka Dubi

Mumbai, Nov 1 (IANS) Raima Sen will come face to face with sister Riya in Rituparno Ghosh’s adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s novel “Nauka Dubi”, going against the original literary work.

Although in the novel, the characters played by the two sisters don’t come together, the director has redefined the novel for commercial reasons.

“There’s no way the audience will accept me and my sister in the same movie without having scenes together. In the original story, our characters don’t come together at all. But Riya and I have to come face to face in our first film together,” Raima told IANS.

Raima, who is currently working on the sets of two films simultaneously, is kicked by the idea of sharing screen space with Riya.

“We were supposed to come together earlier in Vicky Chopra’s ‘Seasons Greetings’. But that didn’t work out. It was an episodic film and we just had a small segment to ourselves,” said the actress who got noticed for her performances in films like “Chokher Bali” and “Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.”

And though the producers plan to dub “Nauka Dubi” into Hindi, Raima is opposed to it.

“I know how strange it sounds when my Bengali films are dubbed into Hindi. It happened with ‘Anuranan’ and more recently with ‘Khela’. When (director) Pradeep Sarkar went to see ‘Khela’, he told me he had gone to see a Bengali film. He ended up watching a Hindi film. Rabindranath Tagore’s characters will look very strange talking in Hindi.”

“I told her in no uncertain terms that her career would be over if something stupid were to happen and she would no longer be a role model for young girls, something she takes very seriously. I think I made an impression on her; at least I hope so. I don’t want to forbid her from dating because that would just make her sneak around. I’d rather have everything up front and out in the open. Miley is a really good kid, but she has to watch her step as far as boys are concerned.”
