Mumbai, Nov 3 (IANS) Nandana Sen says her father, Nobel laureate Amartya Sen, loved “Rang Rasiya”, which was screened at the recently concluded London Film Festival.

“Both my dad and Lord Meghnad loved ‘Rang Rasiya’. Lord Meghnad has become a big champion of our film. He praised my performance to the skies and noticed so many nuances,” Nandana told IANS.

Nandana’s father flew down all the way from China where he was attending a conference to attend the premier of the movie.

“Baba just loved it. He said he was glad he made it to London in time for the screening. Frankly, I didn’t have time for anyone else,” she said.

Based on legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma’s life, the movie is a sensuous love story of the great painter and his muse, a woman called Suganabai. While Randeep Hooda plays Varma, Nandana will be seen as his muse.

The two-week long festival, which concluded last week, threw forward some huge surprises for the film.

” ‘Rang Rasiya’ was superbly received at the festival. The audience was enthralled by the colours and emotions of the theme. It was screened alongside Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Both the films were much talked-about. It was interesting because ‘Rang Rasiya’ was funded from India while ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ was funded from abroad,” said Randeep.

Unfortunately, “Rang Rasiya” couldn’t go to the competitive festivals.

“That’s because it was made simultaneously in three versions - Hindi, English and Hinglish (in Hindi and English). And all three versions couldn’t be readied in time. We’ve screened the film at Cannes and Venice. But like I said, not in the competitive sections.”

After that Nandana and Randeep went to Sri Lanka for a fund-raising event for the forthcoming Sri Lanka Film Festival.

Barely a few words were exchanged between the pair throughout the evening.

When asked about cold vibes with Randeep, Nandana brushed it off saying: “People are fighting all over the world. So I guess we’re just being in character. But seriously, Sri Lanka is such a beautiful place. This was my first visit. I wish they’d stop all the separatist strife would end.”

London, Nov 2 (IANS) Singer Beyonce Knowles, who married long standing boyfriend, rapper Jay-Z in April this year, wants to delay her plans to have children since she has realised how hard it is to be a mother from her sister Solange.

Contactmusic.com reports that winning an Oscar, getting married and having children were three things she wanted to do before she became 30. But Beyonce, 27, is now not sure about having kids in the next three years.

She said: “I’d still love to win an Oscar (but) the kids, I dunno. I’ve been keeping my nephew and he’s the smartest little boy, but he’s making it hard. It’s a lot of work.”

London, Oct 27 (IANS) Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse was admitted to a hospital recently for reported chest infection.

According to mirror.co.uk, Winehouse is also battling drug addiction. She looked visibly thin and weak as in the past she had suffered emphysema. Precautionary scans were taken and she was admitted to the hospital after things got worse.

Winehouse spokesperson said: “Amy is in hospital being checked out for a chest infection. She is not back in rehab. She should be fine and is expected to return home soon.”

Her father Mitch is also very concerned and said: “Doctors have told her that if she goes back to smoking drugs it will kill her.”

Brooke Hogan picked up her brother Nick Hogan when he was released from jail just after midnight. This all looks innocent at first, but then I noticed the “redemption” tattoo, and I started thinking. One More Thought Entertainment (OMTE) in association with Lemontea Productions launched the music album of their forthcoming film DASVIDANIYA recently, starring Vinay Pathak in the lead role.

The audio launch evening was more than a routine function; as amidst all the glamour, liveliness and fun, what remained a complete show–stopper was Kailash Kher live in concert, singing the songs of DASVIDANIYA – who is also the composer of the film’s music album. Kailash Kher got the atmosphere at the launch elevated with energy with his music and performance leading to a roar of constant claps, cheers and body movements from amongst the audiences.

Producer Azam Khan (OMTE) speaking at the launch said, ” It is always a pleasure to bring to the people a new film and the music launch of DASVIDANIYA today gives me a similar sense of delight. Kailash Kher, who has composed the music for the film, we all know, is a very fine artist and the album is a brilliant piece of his gifted talent.”

Words of admiration for the album fell short for Mr. Gupta, CEO of Junglee Music, who exclaimed” What a rare talent Kailash Kher is! For a couple of years now we have heard him only sing, but this album will allow the listeners to enjoy his compositions as well. It’s a feeling of success for us at Junglee Music.”

Apart from Mr. Azam Khan (OMTE) and Mr. Gupta (Junglee Music), present at the function was the starcast of DASVIDANIYA – Vlnay Pathak, Rajat Kapoor, Neha Dhupla as well as Ranvlr Shourey, Saurabh Shukla, Gaurav Gera, Suchltra Pillal, Sarlta Joshi, Suresh Menon and host of others, who swayed their bodies to the tunes of the film, constantly encouraging Kailash Kher. Shashant Shah, who is the director of the film joined the artists in their enjoyment and completely took pleasure of the exceptional evening by the incomparable musician.

Vlnay Pathak seemed to be in his all time buoyant and jovial mood, rhythmically moved his body to the performance. He excitingly quoted, “I’ve been hearing the songs of DASVIDANIYA very often and I love all of them. I must say that kailsh’s music has the ability to make the listener feel the peace of divinity. All the singers have sung very beautifully to the tunes of Kailash Kher. He is one asset that our industry has in terms of music.”

Kailash Kher who has the album of DASVIDANIYA to his credit went ahead to praise everybody associated with the film and the album, “1 would like to thank Mr. Azam Khan, Vinay Pathak and Shashant Shah for giving me this fabulous opportunity. It was my wish to compose music for an unconventional film and my wish has come true with this album. Its lyrics touched my heart and I have tried to bring out the meaning of the words in a similar heartfelt manner. I have sung two songs as well”

The music album of DASVIDANIYA consists of beautiful track called ‘Muskura’ which also has an instrumental version in the album. Kailash Kher’s song Alvida also has its remix version to complete the album. Kailash Kher is the lyricist for all the songs.

The director of the film Shashant Shah limited his excitement to saying, ?I have liked his compositions for DASVIDANIYA since day one but hearing him perform the same numbers live today has made me fall in love with the songs once again, this time with a deeper feeling of contentment. Hope the album and the film is well received by the audiences.”

The film will be releasing all over on the 7th November.

Salman shoots another promotional video for HELLO

If doing a guest appearance in HELLO was not good enough for Salman Khan, he is continuing to do favors for his brother–in–law Atul Agnihotri. Now he has gone ahead and shot an exclusive promotional music video for HELLO that has just arrived on the music channels.

Accompanied by Sharman Joshi, Esha Kopphikar, Gul Panag and Amrita Arora, Salman Khan jigs to the remix version of the title song ‘Hello’ (composed by Sajid–Wajid) that involves some extensive SFX as well. A dance number which actually is the best of the lot in the film’s entire soundtrack, Salman clearly seems to be enjoying his stint, especially so when he goes topless yet again with just a jeans in tow.

As a follow up to ‘Bang Bang’, a dance number which featured Salman Khan at the center stage, ‘Hello’ makes for a much hip and contemporary viewing and manages to attract some eyeballs. Now the need of the situation is an extensive promotion in days to come as the film’s release is just round the corner i.e. 10th October.

New York, Sep 21 (IANS) Hollywood singer-actress Lindsay Lohan has turned down a lucrative offer to pose nude for Playboy magazine.

Lohan, who bared all for New York magazine earlier this year, insists she won’t be doing it again for Playboy’s upcoming 55th anniversary, reports hollywood.com.

“If there’s nudity, the answer is no. She’s not going down that road again,” said her representative.

Playboy boss Hugh Hefner reportedly wanted Lohan to pay tribute to Marilyn Monroe in the anniversary issue as she recreated Monroe’s candid final photo shoot for New York magazine.

HORN OK PLEASSSS doubly lucky with Rimi!

Rimi Sen has always delivered when it comes to performances which require her to show her mad comic streak. Whether it is her debut film HUNGAMA followed by DHOOM, GARAM MASALA, DEEWANE HUYE PAAGA, PHIR HERA PHERI, GOLMAAL or DE TAALI – each of these films has worked well to prove that Rimi is an actor to approach when it is required to make audience laugh. With such a successful ‘laughing’ record to her credit, Rimi continues to be a front runner for films which require a female protagonist with a natural inclination towards humor.

This should be noticed once again in soon to be released HORN OK PLEASSSS which is yet another comedy to hit the screens this season. The film is already in news due to unconventional pairing of Nana Patekar and Rimi Sen. While Nana’s ‘Tarzan roars’ are already blazing across music channels where HORN OK PLEASSSS is being promoted, Rimi’s character in the film is currently being kept under the wraps.

However, as per insiders Rimi is in form yet again for this Rakesh Sarang directed fun film that has Muzammil Ibrahim as the younger hero. While Rimi plays Nana Patekar’s wife in the film, she also has a twin sister (Rimi is in a double role in the film) who is in love with Muzammil.

This is what leads to confusion and numerous comic twists in the narrative which promise to make HORN OK PLEASSSS a joy ride. And a joy ride is pretty much expected here since Nana plays the part of a ‘crorepati truck driver’.

Also starring Satish Shah, Mukesh Tiwari, Vrajesh Hirjee, Ali Asgar and Kunika with Rakhi Sawant in a song and dance appearance, HORN OK PLEASSSS has music by Lalit Pandit and aiming for a release this October.

Preity goes back to school!

Acting wise, the pretty Preity Zinta may not exactly be a (late) Smita Patil or a Konkona Sen Sharma, but she has proved her histrionic capabilities with films like SANGHARSH (1999), KYA KEHNA (2000), VEER ZAARA (2004) and recently in Rituparno Ghosh’s THE LAST LEAR. But that does not stop Preity from honing her acting skills further as proved by the preparations she has put in for her role in Samir Karnik’s upcoming Diwali release, HEROES.

As per sources, Preity plays a widow in HEROES and the role required her to speak with an almost perfect Punjabi accent. Now Preity is from Shimla and educated at a public school there and so despite knowing Punjabi she was not fluent in the language. Guess what the lady did? She went to a top acting school and got herself trained and tutored for the same. The results are there for all to see in the promos of HEROES, where Preity looks every inch a part of the character.

Well, seeing her commitment, we can confidently say that Preity still has a long innings to play in Bollywood!
